AIKIDO VIDEO SKETCHES LIBRARY3: The 31 Count Jo KataThe 31 Count Jo Kata (San Ju Ichi Jo No Kata), is perhaps the most well-known of the Aikido Jo katas, and the most well-known version of it is that of the late Morihiro Saito who learned it from Morihei Ueshiba, the Founder of Aikido. The kata is presented as two video clips of the complete kata, each from a different angle, single video clips of each movement and text descriptions illustrated with still images. The video clips can be looped, played in slow motion and viewed frame by frame. The kata elements include attacking movements and defensive movements appropriate to your intentions and to those of your imaginary opponent who also has a jo.It is said that ‘a picture is worth a thousand words’. If that is true then it is probably also true that a video is worth a thousand pictures. Here you have words, pictures and videos: the best of all worlds. The unique format of this product, the combination of text, images and controllable video clips, was designed to provide the optimum medium for appreciating and understanding the performance of a range of Aikido training forms. The unique sketched format of the images was deliberately chosen to emphasize the action rather than the demonstrator.
